Haha.. not really. But I like to pretend to be one in t-shirts that say I am. This is one of the graphic T’s I got from Old Navy last week and featured in my last post. I have basically lived in it since. I wanted to show how I paired that cool kimono from TJMaxx with it, as well as a more feminine way I styled it another day.

Annnnnnd a lil more fun & flirty… *I tied it on the side because I went a size up and it doesn’t sit very well when it hangs normally.

Until next time!

A Peek Inside

A peek into a rare day off of mine…

Usually how I start my morning: coffee and Bloglovin.

Spin a record or two for a chill morning.

I have probably been to Old Navy a total of 8 times in my life, but I have been seeing the brand talked about a lot in the blogosphere as of late and I wanted to see what all the hype was about for myself so that was my first stop of the day. The humidity + heat index here is ridiculous and makes you want to go out sans pants, but that’s not as publicly acceptable as this outfit.

I was really aiming to find new pieces for work, but ended up getting these cool graphic tees.

(I got the “Rebel” tee in a Medium because there weren’t any Smalls left, but I kind of like it oversized.)

DSC_0820 (2)Found these cool faux ear cuffs at Old Navy, too! Super cute.

I headed to TJMaxx next to find some unique picture frames for a small gallery wall I have in mind. And of course, I ran through the clothing racks, because.. clothes. Found this kimono in the mix and thought it was too cool to leave without.

TJMaxx1 TJMaxx2

Saw this cute tumbler in line at TJMaxx and thought it was precious! Perfect for making iced coffees at home. I didn’t get it, but I may find myself back there this week for it…

Seeing all the new styles in stores around today got my excited for Fall and the coming months. I conjured up a few cool outfits in mind for these graphic T’s and will probably post those next. Considering it’s been hellacious in the dirty South the past month, I would not mind Fall coming early this year. I mean 90+ degrees and 50% humidity is just uncalled for, am I right?!

I have my fingers crossed.

Getting the Most out of Your Lipstick

This post is somewhat of a guinea pig. I have been interested in getting into digital photography over the past couple of years, but never really made a valiant effort. My boyfriend has a Nikon DSLR that pretty much sits on a shelf and collects dust, what a shame, I know! So I finally decided to bust it out and demo some beauty tips to get familiar with it. I am hoping this blog will be a good outlet for me to keep up with everything I learn in the photog world.. and hopefully you won’t have to suffer too much through my trial and error. 😉

Getting the Most out of Your Lipstick

Seems basic, right? I’ve found that there is actually more to it! These are the steps I follow to get the most wear out of my lipstick either at work or a night out to prevent myself from digging in my bag every ten minutes to reapply. Hopefully you find it useful! (The lipstick I demo with is Let’s Get Naked by Rimmel London.)

Step 1. Moisturize and Exfoliate.

Especially important if you’re using a matte formula where every nook and cranny will be exposed.

Step 2. Line and Fill.

This is the most beneficial step.Using a light hand line the outter edge of your lips, this is a nice step to add some volume to your lips too! Very slightly over draw around your cupid’s bow for a plumping effect. Then, turn the pencil on its side and lightly shade your lips with the liner.

Step 3.  Apply Lipstick.

I find that if you “pat” in the lipstick, rather than simply running it over your lips, it helps lock in the color better.

Step 4. Highlight.

This is another tip to fake a full pout. Apply a matte nude liner to your cupid’s bow and just under the center of your bottom lip. Don’t forget to blend it in, don’t want a suspicious white line across your face! A shimmery highlighter works nice too, I like Watt’s Up by Benefit as an all over face highlighter.

Step 5. Gloss.

Not always necessary, but if you have one in a complimentary shade it adds an extra oomph.

DSC_0812And there ya have it! Pretty simple. Hopefully I’ll get a little more adventurous with my camera skills in the coming posts!

All Black Everything

Black is a color. Black is everything. It produces an instant level of chic. Like you’ve just stepped out of the Yves Saint Laurent (yes, I still count the “Yves”.. ain’t no YSL without the Y) flagship store in Paris, where you were just casually shopping with the Olsen twins.

I just got back from a week in New York where there is some seriously a-mah-zing shopping. This top was the one thing I walked out of Zara with, and it was on sale for less than $10. Really alerted the bank with that purchase. It has a higher neckline and wide arm holes. Super easy, super black, and super covered in cat hair at the moment.

Sweet Date Outfits

Valentine’s day is just five short days away already, how did that happen? I think I have been saying that for just about every holiday so far. It has been a whirlwind of a year. The BF and I are going quite fancy this V-day, and I’m pretty excited! We are seeing Chris Thile –> (  ) play at a symphony hall and then most likely going to find a swanky place to get some drinks. Luckily for us the concert is Tuesday the 18th, so we won’t be fighting with the a) Friday crowd or the b) crazed Valentine’s day crowd on the 14th.  Here are some sweet little Valentine’s day outfits floating around my Pinterest boards that I think would work no matter what your plans.

If you’re making it a girls night out, I think a chunky sweater (I mean, it is still February) and heeled booties is the way to go.

If you’re meeting up with a new potential Valentine at a casual bar a moto jacket, sweet dress, & tights to keep your legs from freezing over is a nice option. Flat booties are great for exploring around town and showing off your fave spots together.

If you’re meeting a new potential Valentine at a bit more upscale location I love this minimal look. It’s sleek and sexy, but could still work for many different venues if you’re in for a surprise date.

This look particularly inspired me for the event I’m going to with my boyfriend. I want to be a tad more dressed up than a typical concert outfit because it is going to be at a symphony hall.. but the leather jacket & messy topknot don’t make it look too fussy.

Hope you all have a chocolate filled day accompanied by cheesy love notes and mysterious flower bouquets from secret admirers. 😉

Work vs. Play

I’ve got a work vs. play look here again.. I feel like this might become routine. Both tops I’m wearing in this post were recent Target finds. My love for Target is never-failing. I ended up getting about four tops and a pair of yoga pants (because.. yoga pants, duh) all from the clearance rack! The new merchandise on the floor consisted of bikinis, cover ups, and shorts – and it’s been about eight degrees over here so that was not too appealing. They had a massive clearance section though so I spent waaay too much time scanning through it all, naturally.

(Sneaky work outfit selfies!) This top is actually really nice quality & I would have bought it full price at $29, but I was definitely happy to find it at $12.50. It’s sleeveless and is a pretty blush color with black color blocking on the sides.

Also got my hair did finally! I feel so much better not hauling around so much dead weight anymore.

Let’s Talk About Coffee

Let's Talk About Coffee

Can we also talk about how I unintentionally turned this photo of my coffee into a Marc Jaobs ad? Nailed it.

I’m not even going to try to hide it – I’m a little obsessed. Coffee flavored anything is my weakness, I can’t even begin to think about getting my day started without chugging down some, and a good portion of my Christmas gifts this year from friends and family had to do with coffee in some form. Hey, it could be worse! At least it’s not meth, am I right?!

This fall I decided it would be a good investment to buy a Keurig coffee brewer since I would no longer be living in my tiny one-person apartment with my tiny one-person coffee pot. I bought the K10 Special Edition and it has worked out rather nicely. There are much more techy/expensive versions, but I figured the K10 would do the deed.

So far I’ve been loving it! I wanted to share my favorite K-cup flavors and get some recommendations from you guys as well.

K-Cup Flavors to Try

  1. Chai Latte by Cafe Escapes | I’m not that much of a chai – or even tea – fan, but this one is subtle enough to enjoy at any time.
  2. Newman’s Special Blend Medium Roast Extra Bold by Newman’s Own | A good wake-me-up coffee for when I have to be up at un-Godly hours of the morning.
  3. Gevalia Colombia Medium Roast Coffee | Another standby wake-me-up coffee.
  4. Pumpkin Spice Light Roast  by Green Mountain Coffee | I got this flavor in the Fall when pumpkin everything is equal to gold and I didn’t feel like paying $35.50 everyday for a Grande pumpkin spice latte from you know where.
  5. Starbucks Blonde Roast | This was one of the first K-cups I tried because I loved getting the ground Blonde roast for my regular coffee pot, but I will say it tastes a little different through the Keurig and I had to get used to it for awhile.
  6. Hot Chocolate: I’ve tried Swiss Miss and the Cafe Escapes K-cups and Cafe Escapes by far wins in this category. The Swiss Miss version tastes no different than the standard packs you microwave on your own, but the Cafe Escapes has a rich, real chocolate flavor that I was expecting from the Keurig Swiss Miss version.

Sidenote – I actually haven’t tried the Caribou coffee pictured above yet since I picked it up the other day, but I will inform if I explode with pleasure afterwards.

A Tip on Buying K-cup Packs:

I only buy K-cup packs at Kohl’s because they are usually on some sort of sale (this weekend they were BOGO 1/2 Off), and I can use a coupon toward them. Plus, they sell 18-packs whereas grocery stores usually don’t sell that high of quantity and I can never find coupons for them!
